Hi my Petster friends

I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all of your support and encouragement for the shelter that rescued me! Because of all of your votes, they are now going to receive $1,000 to help them!!!

The St. John Animal Shelter did SOO much after Hurricane Katrina! They weren't flooded because they are in LaPlace so they were able to hold animals and then connect them with different rescue groups across the country. They worked countless hours and saw soo many good and sad stories. They truly made a difference for these animals.

After Katrina, they found me roaming the streets... I was only 13 lbs and probably abandoned because so many people moved away after the storm... i don't remember. They took me in and showed me soo much love!! They kept me there for over 2 months because they knew I would make a great pet!! :) They fell in love and wanted to keep me but they were dedicated to find me a forever home. So with the help of, they put me on the website and that is how my mommy 700 miles away in Florida found me!

My mommy drove from Tampa, FL to LaPlace, LA and picked me up! The newspaper was there doing a story on how far she drove. They already had me outside on a leash when she pulled up and I was pulling Mona (works at the shelter) towards my new mommy. I leaped up on her and she said "I am your new mommy and I am going to take care of you forever"... I didn't quite understand what it meant but it sounded good! She finished meeting the shelter staff who became family to her after waiting over a week to come get me and we got in the car and headed to the hotel. It was our 1st day together and I instantly fell in love...she did too! We drove the 11 hours home the next day. I slept in my car bed the whole way there... I think that picture is on here. I arrived home and met my grandma and grandpa and since then I have been loved on more than I could ever imagine!!

It makes me think of all the animals out there still in shelters that are waiting for their forever homes. Some might not ever get one because of the overpopulation and that makes me sad, mommy says it helps her to think that they will be in heaven and that is their forever home! Thanks to organizations like Petster and, they are helping these animals find those loving homes!

Because of each of you, the St. John Animal Shelter is not only helped by the money that has been donated but uplifted by the thoughtful caring animals out there that voted for them!

I have made so many friends since being on here and I hope to continue to make many many more!!

Until every animal has a loving home,
Cooper "Duke"

The shelter named me Duke because they said I looked/acted like one even though I was small :) Mommy added Cooper because of CNNs, Anderson Cooper and everything he did for animals on the news after Hurricane Katrina.. Thanks Boomer for your support!!!!
